Aikido is a non-violent, Japanese martial art that promotes a spirit of harmonious cooperation. The techniques of Aikido allow the student to blend with the power of an attack and neutralize it. Aikido aims to replace a person's natural reactions of offense and counter destruction with defense and protection. Training is aimed at not only learning to defend ourselves, but to bring an attacker under control without necessarily inflicting serious injury, helping to foster positive ways to deal with conflict. Aikido training will promote good balance & posture, physical coordination, and centering. Safe falling and rolling skills will also be covered.

The main goal of the Intro courses is to prepare students for further study, and to provide some history and principles of the Art.

Although all necessary precautions will be taken, there is a possibility of injury due to the nature of the physical movements involved.
